Cost isn't always the priority — sometimes speed is. Here's how the six providers we track actually compare when the money needs to arrive fast.

The fastest tier: minutes to a few hours

Remitly's Express option is built specifically for this — minutes to a few hours for a bank deposit, at a slightly higher cost than its Economy tier. Botim and cash pickup through Al Ansari can also land within the hour for cash-based delivery specifically.

The middle tier: same-day to 24 hours

Wise typically settles within 24 hours for a bank deposit, occasionally same-day. Remitly's Economy tier and standard Botim transfers generally fall in a similar window.

The slowest tier: 2-5 business days

Bank-to-bank transfers through Emirates NBD or Mashreq — standard SWIFT processing — typically take 2-4 business days, longer if sent right before a Nepali bank holiday. This is the trade-off for banking convenience: speed isn't the strength here.

What actually determines your speed, beyond the provider

Delivery method matters as much as the provider — cash pickup is almost always faster than a bank deposit regardless of who you use, and timing around Nepal's banking week can add days to an otherwise-fast transfer if you send late Thursday or on a Friday.

The practical answer

Genuinely urgent: Remitly Express or cash pickup through Al Ansari. Routine, not urgent: Wise for the best transparency, or whichever of the six gives you the best rate for your amount. Already banking with Emirates NBD or Mashreq: fine for a planned transfer, not the right choice if speed matters.
