How to Send Money From Nepal to Kuwait: The Real Rules
Nepal restricts outward remittance for approved purposes only. Here's what actually applies if you're sending money to Kuwait specifically.
If you need to send money from Nepal to Kuwait — supporting family there, or a documented business need — the same outward remittance rules covered in our general guide apply. Here's what that means for this specific corridor.
The same NRB framework applies here too
As covered in our Nepal outward remittance guide, sending money out of Nepal requires an approved purpose under Nepal Rastra Bank's rules — education, medical treatment, or a documented business payment. Kuwait isn't an exception to this framework.
Documentation by purpose
Education requires an admission or fee-payment letter from the receiving institution. Medical treatment needs a treatment estimate or referral. Business payments need an invoice or contract. Your bank will request whichever applies before releasing the transfer.
Kuwait's own tightened rules add a second layer
Worth knowing on the receiving end: Kuwait recently tightened its own money transfer rules, requiring a bank statement for incoming transfers above KD 3,000 and capping cash remittance payments at KD 1,000 a day. Our Kuwait rules guide covers this in detail — worth checking if your transfer is on the larger side.
What isn't allowed
Sending without an approved purpose through formal channels isn't permitted, and hundi remains illegal under Nepal's Foreign Exchange Act regardless of destination.
Where to start
