Mid-market rates

The “mid-market” rate on every currency page is the midpoint between the buy and sell price large banks quote each other. We pull it hourly from a live FX feed and cache it for one hour. The time you see next to the number is when we last refreshed. It is the fairest reference rate — but it is not what any consumer provider will actually give you. Every provider adds a margin.

Captured provider rates

For exchange houses like Al Ansari and Lulu, we capture the published rate at a specific time each business day and store it with that timestamp. These are samples, not live quotes: the rate can move by the time you walk into a branch. We display the capture time next to every number and label captured rates distinctly from the live mid-market. Always verify the final rate with the provider before you send.

Ranking formula

Comparison tables are sorted by the amount the recipient actually receives, holding your send amount constant. We compute this as(send_amount − fee) × provider_rate. We do not weight brands, we do not accept payments to reorder the table, and the sort key is visible in every row.

Affiliate policy

Some providers pay us a commission when you sign up through our links. We mark those rows and include a full disclosure at the bottom of every commercial page. Affiliate status neverchanges the sort order or the numbers we show. We compare providers we have no relationship with using the same formula and place them on the same table.

Corrections

If a number on this site is wrong, email hello@remitseas.com and we will fix it within one business day and post a note on the page. We publish the correction rather than silently overwriting it.
