Emirates NBD and Mashreq Transfer Limits: What Actually Applies

Bank transfer limits depend heavily on your account tier. Here's how Emirates NBD's and Mashreq's limits actually work for Nepal transfers.

If you're banking with Emirates NBD or Mashreq, your transfer limit isn't a fixed number for everyone — it depends significantly on your account tier. Here's how that actually plays out.

Standard accounts vs. Priority Banking

As covered in our Emirates NBD review, Priority and Private Banking customers get DirectRemit fees waived entirely — and account tiers like this generally come with meaningfully higher transfer limits too, not just fee waivers. A standard retail account carries lower default limits than a Priority tier at either bank.

Mashreq's standard SWIFT process

Our Mashreq review covers how Nepal transfers run through standard SWIFT processing rather than Mashreq's promotional Quick Remit corridors. Standard SWIFT transfers generally carry higher per-transaction ceilings than instant-payment products, but with correspondingly longer processing time — 1-3 business days rather than instant.

Both banks apply source-of-funds checks above a threshold

As covered in our UAE transfer limits guide, amounts above AED 3,500 for wire transfers trigger standard customer due diligence under UAE AML law — this applies regardless of which bank you use, Emirates NBD or Mashreq included.

Check your actual limit in your banking app

Both banks display your specific daily and per-transaction international transfer limit directly in their mobile app or online banking portal — this is account-specific and can be adjusted, often instantly, through the app itself rather than requiring a branch visit.

The practical takeaway

If you regularly send larger amounts and are on a standard retail account, checking whether a higher account tier is available to you could be worth it — both for the limit increase and the fee waivers that typically come with it. For routine amounts, your default limit is very unlikely to be a constraint at all.
