Remitly Transfer Limits: Understanding the Tier System
Remitly uses a tiered verification system, and your delivery method matters too. Here's how the limits actually work, and how to raise yours.
Remitly's transfer limits aren't one fixed number — they depend on your verification tier, your delivery method, and where you're sending. Here's how the system actually works.
The tier system, explained
New Remitly accounts start at a basic tier with modest daily and monthly limits. Submitting additional identity documents unlocks higher tiers — each with meaningfully increased daily, monthly, and rolling limits. The pattern is consistent: the more verification you complete, the more you can send.
Delivery method changes your limit too
Remitly's Express option — built for speed — typically carries a lower per-transaction cap than Economy, which in turn is lower than its highest-limit tier for larger transfers. Cash pickup limits are usually lower than bank deposit limits, and can also depend on the specific pickup partner's own policy in the receiving country.
Where to check your actual current limit
Your exact limit is shown automatically as you set up a transfer, before you confirm payment — it accounts for your verification level, delivery method, and destination all at once. Don't rely on a general figure you've seen online; check it live for your specific transfer.
If you need to send more than your current limit
Providing additional verification — government ID, proof of address, and sometimes documentation of your funds' source — typically unlocks a higher tier. Doing this in advance, before you need a large transfer urgently, avoids a delay right when timing matters. Our Remitly UAE guide covers setup more broadly.
